Swale Garden Transformation

From a garden left for dead by the original developer to a beautiful, clean and sleek space for all the family to enjoy and relax. Follow the build, day by day.

  1. 1

    Day 1

    Demolition & Strip-Out

Stripped out the old patio, lifted tired turf and cleared years of neglect left by the original developer — down to a clean, workable plot ready for new levels.

    Day 2

    Stone & Sub-Base

Tonnes of MOT stone barrowed in, spread, levelled and whacked down to form a rock-solid sub-base. New fence panels also went up along the boundary — sharp, fresh and ready to frame the finished garden.

    Day 3

    Setting Out & Slabbing

Indian sandstone slabs set out and laid on a full wet mortar bed — string lines run, falls checked, and each slab tapped down level. A stepping-stone path runs down the side to tie the patio into the rest of the garden.

    Day 4

    Patio Perfectly Pointed

Final jointing brought the whole scheme together — every line neatly pointed, edges sharpened up and the sandstone washed down to show its full colour. The patio now reads as one crisp, finished surface with a clean path wrapping the lawn.

The Reveal

Before & After

What started as a tired, uneven lawn with leaning fence panels and a forgotten corner is now a sharp, low-maintenance garden — full sandstone patio, fresh boundary fencing, a clean stepping-stone path and a tidy lawn the kids can actually use.
